This conference merges up to three unique satellite conferences into one major event.
NASA Harvest is co-organizing the sixth session of this conference, focused on "Quantifying Impact of Weather Extremes in a Changing Climate". This session emphasizes extreme weather events including heat waves, droughts and heavy precipitation, and their influence on agriculture and ecosystems, as well as human health and well-being. Harvest is taking a leadership role in this conference in order to strengthen linkages with the atmospheric community, including NOAA and EUMETSAT, toward improving sub-seasonal forecasting and forecast integration into crop monitoring and modeling activities. With this information, we can develop methods to better inform governments and farmers of potential threats from extreme weather events to crops, improving food security.
