AgMIP Meeting Provides Opportunity for New Working Group on Satellite Integration

Dr. Prasad Bandaru presented on behalf of NASA Harvest at AgMIP’s 7th Global Workshop, which was held April 24-26, 2018 at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in San Jose, Costa Rica. Dr. Bandaru discussed how the program enhances food security and agriculture through the use of Earth observation. The meeting revealed significant interest in data integration and yield forecasting, and a new working group has begun focusing on this area of interest.

The IICA partnership and venue provided an excellent opportunity for synergistic exchange on agricultural systems and outcomes. AgMIP's annual meeting included a mix of innovative research results as well as work sessions to organize agricultural modeling research and applications that address key challenges articulated by agricultural decision-makers.
