Tech for a Sustainable Future Panel features Harvest Hub Partner at Resource Watch Launch Event

On Wednesday April 11th, National Geographic and the World Resources Institute co-hosted a launch event for the new Resource Watch platform to explore how current trends in data, technology, media and human networks can inform decision-making around natural resources. As part of this event, Viviana Zalles of Harvest’s University of Maryland Hub was invited to participate in an armchair discussion on Tech for a Sustainable Future, alongside industry leaders such as the CEO's of OpenAQ and Descartes Lab, and representatives from Google Earth Outreach and the National Geographic Society. During the discussion, the panel touched upon the importance of the open Landsat archive as an essential tool for monitoring the use and exploitation of the Earth's natural resources, and to enable us to find sustainable solutions for our future.

The event also featured Gina McCarthy, former EPA administrator, and Dr. Mae Jemison, former Astronaut, both of whom gave inspiring speeches about the possibility for innovation that can be unleashed through the use of the Resource Watch platform.
