How I work with Harvest
Dr. Colin works on the design of networks of wireless agro-meteorological stations to tackle the current lack of in-situ precipitation observations in East Africa. He is currently working with UMD and the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology in Arusha, Tanzania, to demonstrate the benefits of building local capacities on new high-tech open-hardware solutions to deploy and maintain low-cost sustainable agro-met networks.
Biography
Jérôme Colin is a research engineer working on land surface processes measurement and modelling at the Engineering Science, Computer Science and Imaging laboratory (ICube). He actively contributes to the design of environmental sensors building on local expertise on IoT and wireless communication technologies, and is involved in many studies in Europe and Asia. Before joining ICube, Jérôme was the head manager of the Euro-Asian consortium CEOP-AEGIS promoting the use of Earth Observation to monitor key hydrological variables over the Tibetan Plateau. Jérôme holds a PhD in Climatology and Remote Sensing from the University Louis Pasteur, France.
