Sergii Skakun is an Assistant Research Professor at the Department of Geographical Sciences, University of Maryland, College Park, and Research Scientist at the Terrestrial Information Systems Laboratory at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. He has been a member of the CEOS Working Group on Information Systems and Services (WGISS), 2005-2013, an expert of the UN-SPIDER Regional Support Office in Ukraine, 2010-2013. He has contributed to the International Charter “Space & Major Disasters” in 2010, 2012, 2013 and is Associate Editor in the Computing Sciences for Environment section of the journal AIMS Geosciences. Dr. Sergii Skakun received a Ph.D. in System Analysis and Theory of Optimal Solutions (Computer Science) from the Space Research Institute of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and National Space Agency of Ukraine, and an M.S. and B.S. in Applied Mathematics from the National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”.
