Rapid Response in Agriculture

Remotely-sensed satellite data is especially useful when accurate and near-real-time data is needed quickly, whether in response to acute food insecurity threats such as drought and regional conflict or for policy implementation following severe whether events and unforeseen disasters. Especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting disruptive affects on agricultural production, crop harvests, food markets, and agricultural supply chains, the NASA Harvest Rapid Response Initiative enables consortium partners to quickly respond to emerging priorities and crises. Our partners are conducting research and building end-user-drive tools to monitor impacts on national reporting, surveys, and statistics throughout the season.
