How I work with Harvest

Dr. Kim will be supporting Harvest in the following areas:

•    Creating an open source GIS software using Esri MapObjects for eastern African government officers who don’t have commercial license of GIS software, collaborating with International Livestock Research Institutes
•    Developing a Web application of crop calendar and crop monitoring for the Food Security Portal audience, collaborating with University of Maryland and GEOGLAM
•    Participating in the CGIAR Consortium for Spatial Information, a global partnership of research organizations dedicated to reducing poverty and hunger, improving human health and nutrition, and enhancing ecosystem resilience through agricultural research.

Biography

Dr. Soonho Kim is a data manager working on Food Security Portals at International Food Policy Research Institute. She has been focusing on adapting remote sensing technology to international development, especially combining with economic research. She received a Ph.D. in Agricultural and biological engineering (major) and computer science (minor) in University of Florida in 2005. Prior to Joining IFPRI, Soonho Kim has worked as an Information management specialist in Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for six years.
