Harvest partner presents in Ukraine at GEO-UA 2018

NASA Harvest partner Sergii Skakun participated in the 6th GEO-UA International Conference “Earth Observations for Sustainable Development and Security”, held on 18-19 September 2018 in Kyiv, Ukraine.

This year the GEO-UA Conference 2018 focused on innovations - pre-operative and operational implementation of the latest scientific findings for GEOSS, public and private sectors in the agricultural sector and other industries. In particular, innovative solutions were considered in the context of the major international project Horizon 2020 ERA-PLANET, the World Bank's program "Supporting Transparent Land Governance in Ukraine" and the cooperation of public and private institutions. Big data and open data revolutions in Earth observations and rapid development of cloud and high performance intelligent computations open the door for preoperational and operational use of satellite data and monitoring services in the agricultural and environmental domains.

Dr. Skakun gave a presentation on NASA Harvest Consortium, focusing on existing collaboration between Harvest and Ukrainian partners, and a second presentation on the LCLUC (Land cover/land use change)/MuSLI project, which will prototype a crop yield product using NASA Harmonized Landsat Sentinel-2 (HLS) dataset.
