Sarah Brennan Awarded NASA’s Exceptional Public Service Medal

Sarah Brennan has been awarded NASA’s Exceptional Public Service Medal (EPSM). The EPSM is one of NASA’s most prestigious awards and a significant recognition of Sarah’s amazing accomplishments. As the Deputy Program Manager for the Water Resources and Agriculture Applications areas within NASA’s Applied Science Program, Sarah is a crucial part of the NASA Harvest team and has been instrumental in helping our program to grow since its inception.

The Exceptional Public Service Medal is awarded to individuals whose “sustained performance embodies multiple contributions on NASA projects, programs, or initiatives”. To receive the honor, awardees must meet a series of requirements, including performance that has significantly impacted NASA operations; a record of achievements that sets a benchmark of success; making substantial improvements to a NASA program; and making a lasting impact on NASA’s success. Each nominee undergoes a rigorous review process by a review board and must be approved by a NASA Center Director. 

Before coming to the NASA Applied Sciences Program, Sarah worked on a number of environmental protection projects across the United States, as well as working in South Korea and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana. During her time at NASA, Sarah has been a strong advocate of the NASA Harvest program and has supported our efforts in expanding agricultural monitoring and bolstering global food security. Sarah’s receipt of this honor is a testament to her commitment, hard work, and ability to set a standard that others look up to. We are proud to work with Sarah and congratulate her on her success!
