Harvest Hub hosts Vietnamese delegation for Crop Monitor Collaboration

On July 19th, a delegation of collaborators from Vietnam visited the NASA Harvest hub at UMD (delegation listed below).  The morning was spent discussing the next phase of the National Crop Monitor for Vietnam, an ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Center for Informatics and Statistics (MARD CIS), Vietnam National Space Center (VNSC), and Harvest to develop a monthly bulletin outlining crop conditions in Vietnam using a combination of field and remote sensing datasets. The first demonstration bulletin was produced in June and further enhancements were discussed. Approaches for monitoring of rice area, production and condition were also presented by Nguyen Lam Dao and Tran Thai Bin. The group was joined by Dr. Garik Gutman from NASA HQ, who led a discussion on the South and Southeast Asia Research Initiative (SARI). In the afternoon, the group were given presentations on Harvest and GLAD activities by Belen Franch, Sergii Skakun, Varaprasad Bandaru, Ritvik Sahajpal, Xiao-peng Song, Peter Potopov and Ahmad Khan.
