Harvest Hub Partners Participate in Kansas Hard Winter Wheat Tour

The Hard Winter Wheat Tour, taking place this year from April 30 to May 3, is an excellent opportunity for on-the-ground experience regarding current status of winter wheat in the U.S. Each car on the tour includes a host veteran with the expertise to respond to questions from observers. This training and mentoring opportunity provides three days of fundamental wheat industry experience. NASA Harvest members from UMD Belen Franch and Sergii Skakun are participating in the Kansas Wheat Tour 2018. Both northern and central areas of Kansas were visited. In the north, wheat development is behind schedule this year due to prevailing dry conditions. In the central area, conditions were much more favorable with adequate moisture and average yields around 43 Bu/ac.
