NASA Harvest and NIBULON Announce Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Food Access
NIBULON is one of the leaders in Ukrainian grain exports and agricultural production with a land bank of over 76,000 hectares. Since 1991, the company has invested USD 2.3 billion in creating an ecosystem of sustainable food supply. It includes partnerships with more than 4,500 Ukrainian agricultural producers who together with NIBULON supply high-quality agricultural products to 76 countries worldwide.
During the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, NIBULON has become an inspiring example of resilience and the ability to continue feeding the world with partners despite the risks of war and the loss of 68% of its assets.
February 19, 2025 — NASA Harvest is happy to announce our partnership with NIBULON, one of Ukraine’s leading agricultural producers and exporters.
NASA Harvest’s collaboration with NIBULON combines the power of satellite data and analytics with NIBULON’s extensive expertise in grain production and agricultural practices.
"Partnering with Nibulon provides NASA Harvest with valuable insights into estimating major crop production in Ukraine, aiding the Ukrainian government in assessing yields across both free and occupied territories. By utilizing Nibulon's field data, we enhance our research by verifying and calibrating our crop recognition models. The strategic location of Nibulon’s fields in Mykolaivs'ka Oblast, near the front line, allows us to gather real ground data as close as possible to occupied areas. This is crucial, as access to on-the-ground data from occupied territories is not possible. Nibulon’s expertise and knowledge of the region are therefore indispensable to our work," - said Oleksandra Oliinyk, Ukraine Strategic Partnerships Manager.
NIBULON’s unwavering dedication to its mission, even in the face of war and the proximity of its fields to active battle zones, is truly inspiring. By combining NASA Harvest's expertise in remote sensing with NIBULON’s leadership in agricultural production, we can help ensure a more sustainable and resilient future for global food systems.
“Despite the challenges in the agricultural sector, we had the courage to rethink our approach to agricultural production, shifting our focus to efficiency and profitability through investment. As a result, we saw tangible returns in the first year of operating under this new model—achieving profitability (ЕВІТDA) growth from $200/ha to $800/ha, depending on the region, and increasing production by 60% compared to the previous year. We sincerely thank our partner, NASA Harvest, for their support and valuable data that guided our management decisions,” - said Oleg Veselov, Director of Agricultural Production at NIBULON
This partnership exemplifies how international collaboration can tackle some of the most critical challenges in global food security. Together, NASA Harvest and NIBULON are poised to make a meaningful impact on global food supply.
